Due to their unique ability to store water, succulents are considered the best candidates for modern interiors with minimal maintenance. They do not suffer if they are forgotten to water, retain their beauty and compactness for many years. You can not be afraid to leave them for the period of the trip, and you can use them absolutely as you like.
The time when succulents huddled on windowsills (or near computers, supposedly to “absorb” radiation) are long gone. Succulents, thanks to the designers, appeared in a new light – as the best plants that can be planted in florariums and terrariums, original pots and wall stands. They, merging with decor, furniture and art objects, enliven the space without requiring special care and time. And they always look neat and elegant, flawless and extravagant.

Blooming succulents is not such a common sight. And still it is surrounded by some magical atmosphere of exoticism. Desert flowers, even if they can be seen at every step, have not lost their unique charm from this.
Succulents always bloom after a dormant period. And in order for the buds to wake up, the conditions for plants must strictly correspond to those that “start” this process in nature. Drought and cold are the main parameters responsible for the process of preparing for flowering in plants capable of storing water in the trunks and leaves of plants.
Despite the fact that wintering parameters need to be selected for each type of plant according to its individual habits (even cacti require different maintenance regimes during the dormant period), something in common in this phase should be for all succulents: the temperature is not higher than 15 degrees and not below 5, practically dry maintenance regime with very little or no watering.
At the same time, the correct wintering often seems to be a great difficulty in the conditions of standard city apartments, it has more advantages and opportunities than disadvantages. Maintaining an optimal wintering regime allows you to simplify the care of plants at times.
During the cold resting phase, you can actually forget about succulents, spending time checking their condition no more than once a month. Any unheated or partially heated balcony, loggia, cold hallway, cool northern room for a dormant period will do.
