Five years ago, I bred gloriosa with seeds. They ascended without problems, and over time, nodules grew. By autumn, the plant stops blooming and gradually withers (ground part). This is a signal to reduce watering, and after the ground part is completely dry, watering must be stopped.

I transplant the tubers directly into fresh dry soil. Although many do this in the spring, when the nodules begin to grow, as evidenced by the buds that have sprung up. You need to work with the plant carefully – it venomously! It is important to plant the tubers with their eyes upward to a depth of 4-5 cm. Incorrect or deep planting will be a difficult test for the plant. Of course, it is likely to germinate, but it will take a lot of effort on it, or it may rot before reaching the soil surface. I plant the tubers in several pieces in a container, and separately. I select the pots that are not very deep, I make good drainage.
I’m not particularly wise with the soil: I take garden soil and add leaf humus (from the undergrowth) or peat for looseness. The fact is that our land is heavy – fat black soil, and after watering it turns into a heavy lump.

The pot with tubers does not need to be placed in a cool place, gloriosa is a thermophilic plant (even during dormancy), and hypothermia may not survive. I water very rarely and very little in the cold season.
In the spring, I install a support for the plant, it will still try to cling to something, including its neighbors. In addition, the shoots of gloriosa are fragile and, bending, they can break under their own weight.
I choose a light place for the plant. To avoid burning the leaves, as a result of which they can dry out and fall off, I shade from the scorching sun.

My gloriosa blooms all summer, blooming flower after flower. Moreover, as they bloom, the color changes from green to orange, then the flower turns red and at the end of flowering becomes red-crimson. He shows himself as such a “chameleon” for several days. The plant looks very decorative, and since the flowers do not bloom all at once, and if several specimens grow in one more pot, then the gloriosa blooms for a long time.
