It should be borne in mind that the ripening time varies depending on the region, on climatic conditions and on various subspecies of this variety. The variety is considered the most suitable for the Kirov region of Russia. Grushovka tomatoes are most often grown there on vegetable farms. An official description suggests that such a crop is the most profitable choice for commercial cultivation of tomatoes.

Grushovka tomato variety has two varieties:

  1. Japanese (in our country it has not gained distribution).
  2. Moscow (grown everywhere).

These tomatoes are intended for cultivation in such conditions:

  • open ground (bushes height is 50-60 cm);
  • greenhouse ( height reaches a meter or more);
  • under the film.

Description of the culture

The plant forms compact bushes, its leaves are medium largest, dark green in color; inflorescences are intermediate. 5-6 fruits of the same size grow on one brush. Ripening is uniform.

The peculiarity of tomato Grushovka is a unique characteristic of the appearance of the fruit, which is their distinguishing feature. The fruits of these tomatoes of a characteristic elongated shape, wider below, resemble a pear or pepper, which gave the name to the variety. Green Grushovka tomato in the photo looks like a ripe fruit, not like a vegetable. Weight is 90-120 g, some fruits reach 250 g. Tomatoes have a very pleasant aroma, red or bright pink color, and a wonderful taste with a slight acidity. The pulp is fleshy, pink, juicy, the seed content is low. They are remarkably stored and not susceptible to cracking. The long preservation of the presentation and taste during transportation makes this variety one of the leaders among tomatoes.

Features of growing and care

Proper care will ensure a good harvest

Before planting Grushovka tomatoes, it is recommended to fertilize the soil with nitrogen-containing fertilizers. Reviews from experienced gardeners recommend fertilizing the plot in the fall, where you plan to plant tomatoes next year, digging the ground with the addition of roots and leaves of lupine containing nitrogen. Breeders advise growing Grushovka in the traditional way using seedlings.

Tomato care Moscow Grushovka includes the following:

  • picking;
  • watering;
  • pinching;
  • tying to supports;
  • loosening;
  • top dressing;
  • weeding and removing weeds;
  • protection against diseases and pests.

Growing seedlings

Before sowing, seeds must be processed by placing them in a weak solution of potassium permanganate for 25-30 minutes (5-8 g. Potassium permanganate per liter of water). The Zircon solution can become a good alternative to potassium permanganate. As an additional treatment, a growth stimulator can be used, due to which germination is significantly increased. Then the seeds are washed in clean water and dried a little. You can sprout them by wrapping in wet gauze for 1-2 days.The seeds are planted to a depth of 2 cm, keeping a small distance between them so that the sprouts do not stretch.

When germinating the seeds, fertilize the substrate with complex type fertilizer, or add wood ash in an amount of 100-150 g per square meter.

In the future, fertilize every 14-20 days. For feeding use:

  • chemicals with a wide spectrum of action;
  • organic fertilizers (manure, humus);
  • folk biological methods (tops of lupine, other plants ).

However, in order to reduce the harmfulness of chemical fertilizers, it is possible to replace them with biological ones, which will also allow to grow an excellent Grushovka crop.

Seedling Care

Рассаду необходимо закаливать

Seedlings need to be hardened

Young shoots must be planted and at the same time keep the pick, in the phase of 2-3 leaves, which stimulates the development and rapid growth of the root system of plants. 2 weeks before planting in open ground, seedlings need to be hardened, starting from half an hour in air, and then leaving the plants for a whole day before planting.

Seedlings are ready for planting directly into the ground at the age of 45-55 days. When the danger of night frosts passes and the soil warms up to 15 degrees, you can plant seedlings on the site.On one square meter have no more than 5 plants. It is recommended to maintain a distance between seedlings in a row of 30-40 cm, and between rows – 70 cm. When watering, care must be taken using warm water. Water carefully under the root so that water does not fall on the leaves. It is best to plant tomatoes at sunset or in cloudy weather so that delicate sprouts do not burn out in the sun.

Immediately after planting seedlings in the ground, it is advisable to establish supports for the sprouts and tie plants to them. It is also necessary to carry out stepsoning in order to properly form bushes. The ideal option, resulting in very high yields and large fruits, is the formation of a bush consisting of 3-4 stems.

Grushovka’s protection against disease

Unfortunately, this the tomato variety does not show sufficient resistance to diseases and pests, and therefore requires special attention.

Moscow Grushovka’s diseases:

Macrosporosis (or brown spotting)

This disease is provoked by fungi that affect the stem and leaves. High humidity only contributes to the rapid development of fungi. The best way to control this is to use antifungal solutions that include copper (Barrier).

Viral mosaic

The leaves, stem and fruits are covered with stains resembling marble. In this case, the only way out is to destroy the affected plants.The earth around the roots of the diseased plant should also be removed. Only this way can stop the spread of the disease to other bushes.

Vertex Rot

Only tomatoes are affected by this disease. The fruits of the diseased plant are covered with brown spots and dents on the tops. Top rot is most affected by tomatoes growing on calcium poor soil.
