How bees are used to treat sciatica

Radiculitis or radiculopathy is manifested by a sharp pain in the back – the lumbar region and sacrum often suffer. This is the most common localization of pain symptoms when the nerve roots extend beyond the spinal column are pinched or inflamed. The cervical, cervicobrachial, cervicothoracic and thoracic spine may also be affected.

The causes of the inflammatory process include osteochondrosis, intervertebral hernias, various injuries and pathologies. In the treatment of these diseases, beekeeping products, in particular bee venom, can be successfully used.

Application of bee venom

The toxin contained in the venom of bees can accelerate the regeneration of damaged intervertebral discs in osteochondrosis and other pathological conditions of the spinal column.

Apitoxin gives several positive effects at once:

  • reduces inflammation;
  • provides pain relief;
  • improves blood microcirculation in the affected area;
  • improves metabolic processes at the cellular level;
  • warms inflamed tissues;
  • relieves muscle spasm.

You can apply bee stings only after examination and consultation with your doctor! Allergies to honey and bee venom should be excluded. Before starting therapy, a test is performed – a single bite with control of the composition of blood and urine.

It is also necessary to take into account possible contraindications. Bee stings do not treat young children under ten years old, pregnant and breastfeeding women. Apitherapy of this type is not recommended for oncology, tuberculosis, acute infections, hepatitis, renal, hepatic and heart failure.

Treatment of radiculitis by bees is performed in two ways:

  1. In case of acute pain caused by inflammation or pinching of the nerve, insects are planted in the most painful points – they are determined through palpation.
  2. With moderate pain syndrome, bites are performed at biologically active points – if the neck or lower back is affected, this is the area along the spinal column, or the place of projection of the strangulated nerve on the back.

The above two methods can be successfully combined. One course of treatment takes up to 20-30 days with a break between sessions of one day.

A bite test or probe is performed before starting treatment in two steps! On the first day, the sting is left in the human body for only 10 seconds. The next day, blood and urine tests are taken to determine the level of sugar and protein. On the third day, the sting after one bite is left for one minute and then removed. On the fourth day, repeated urine and blood tests are taken.

If there are no changes in the blood picture and the composition of urine is normal, you can proceed directly to the treatment with bee stings. In the first session, it is necessary to take 1-2 bites, gradually increasing the number of stings during treatment to 20 at a time.

How is the bite done

The session schema looks like this:

  1. The body is washed with soap and water and wiped dry.
  2. Points are selected that are suitable for this type of apitherapy. The bees are removed from a jar or other container using tweezers and pressed with their belly to the designated points.
  3. The sting remains at the site of the bite for 10-15 minutes, after which it is removed from the skin.

During the session, an apitherapist should be next to the patient, who monitors the general condition of the patient. With increased heartbeat, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea, the sting is immediately removed! After that, the necessary medical assistance is provided.

Painless treatment with bee venom

Not everyone will be able to safely tolerate therapy with “live” bee venom. Treatment of the back with bees is painful and therefore especially unpleasant with a low pain threshold.

Bites can be successfully replaced with injections. For example, use “Apifor”. This medication is injected under the skin in a hospital setting. The dose of apitoxin in the preparation is accurately calculated, which excludes the occurrence of allergic reactions. But at the same time, the procedure is still moderately painful.

an injection

Completely painless poison treatment is performed by means of electrophoresis – the poison is applied to the skin and, under the influence of an electric current, penetrates the tissues. The duration of one session is from 10 to 15 minutes. The course takes on average 20-30 days. There is a break of one day between sessions.

The disadvantages of electrophoresis include the impossibility of precise dosage control. There may be a saturation of the body with poison – an allergic reaction will begin, and insufficient use of apitoxin – the procedure will not give the expected result.

Simultaneously with the course of treatment with bee venom, back massage and special physical education are performed. It also helps relieve muscle spasms, improve blood circulation, increase the space between the vertebrae and release pinched nerve roots.

How to warm the area of inflammation

Among the monastic recipes for the use of bee products, there is a recommendation for effectively relieving back pain and improving blood circulation.

Mix in equal proportions:

  • natural honey;
  • sunflower oil;
  • alcohol tincture of propolis, you can use its pharmacy version.

The resulting mixture is covered with ordinary mustard plasters. Then they are attached to the sore spot with bandages and left for 10-15 minutes. After the procedure, it is recommended to protect the back from rapid cooling with a natural woolen cloth.

Propolis for back pain

As mentioned above, the cause of radiculitis can be osteochondrosis or degenerative damage to the intervertebral discs.

massage

In this case, if pain occurs it is necessary to roll out the propolis to a cake of the desired size and put it on the painful zone, securing it with adhesive plaster. Propolis stays on the skin for up to 24-48 hours, after which a break is taken a day. The sessions are repeated until the pain disappears completely.

Alternatively, you can use a ready-made propolis-based preparation known as “Apipromin” or bee resin.

Treatment with bee stings and the use of other beekeeping products can alleviate the condition with radiculitis in both its acute and chronic forms. The earlier apitherapy was started, the more chances to avoid the spread of the inflammatory process.
