What is mumiyo

Despite its frequent use in alternative, folk and Ayurvedic medicine, the exact origin of mumiyo is still unknown to science. There is an assumption that this is a waste product of rodents or bats living in mountainous regions.

This organomineral product is found in different regions of the world with a harsh mountain climate, where the excrement of mice undergoes further fermentation in the unique microclimate of caves. Many factors are involved in this process: microorganisms, rocks, plants, soil, air temperature, lighting.

Over time, organic matter turns into “black bitumen” – a mineral resin with a specific odor, consisting of pieces of mass with a matte, shiny or fine-grained surface of dark brown or black color.

This is one of the versions of the formation of a unique natural medicine. Geological origin implies a “kinship” with oil and even the Earth’s mantle. There is no confirmation or refutation of this theory. Since the process of forming a mumiyo lasts more than one century. And it is simply impossible to track the entire process in remote regions.

But it is believed that the darker the color of the mumiyo, the more useful the medicine is for humans.

Useful Properties

The centuries-old application in folk medicine has shown that “black bitumen” has a number of useful properties. It:

  • stimulates the immune system;
  • has antioxidant properties;
  • accelerates skin regeneration;
  • promotes proper digestion;
  • strengthens the musculoskeletal system;
  • normalizes the work of the heart and blood vessels.

On a note. Although laboratory studies were carried out in several countries around the world, there was no convincing evidence of the biological activity of the substance. There are still no data from clinical and experimental studies. And for this reason, “mountain balsam” is not prescribed in public medical institutions.

But in alternative medicine, the scope of its application is extensive. It:

  • acne, eczema, psoriasis;
  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • problems with the nervous system and impaired cerebral circulation;
  • pathologies of the heart and blood vessels;
  • arthritis, arthrosis, gout;
  • injuries to bones and ligaments;
  • respiratory diseases;
  • problems with male potency.

What does the addition of honey give

The use of “black bitumen” with natural honey is justified for several reasons at once. Such a mixture:

  • tastes good;
  • looks attractive in terms of food aesthetics;
  • has a twice-enhanced healing effect.

And no matter what sort of honey will be used for medicinal purposes! Does not matter:

  • an antioxidant effect will be provided;
  • the intestines will be cleansed of toxins and toxins;
  • metabolism will improve;
  • peripheral circulation is normalized;
  • the immune system will be strengthened.

Противопоказания

Judging by the reviews, most of the contraindications are associated with the introduction of a honey product into the diet.

The “red flags” of medical therapy are:

  • food intolerance;
  • diabetes mellitus (a doctor’s permission is required for an appointment);
  • exacerbation of diseases of the intestines, stomach, excretory system;
  • pregnancy and breastfeeding periods;
  • skin diseases characterized by retention of carbohydrates in the skin.

As for mumiyo, its excess can also be dangerous by the occurrence of an allergic reaction. And also “mountain balsam” not recommended to be taken orally for hypertension.

Therefore, the remedy is used in short courses and only in case of acute need for home treatment..

Physical and chemical characteristics (quality)

Mumiyo, purified from impurities, has an elastic consistency, the color is often dark, shiny. The taste is bitter. When stored for a long time, it becomes solid due to the evaporation of moisture.

It dissolves well in water (water is clear, brown in color), and is almost insoluble in alcohol. For this reason, there are often warnings not to prepare medicine with vodka.

Contains mineral and organic components: lead, selenium, chromium, calcium, sodium, iron, amino acids, carbohydrates, fatty acids.

It is impossible to purchase mumiyo from unverified sellers, since there is a high probability of getting a fake. After all, deposits of “black bitumen” are very rare, and the reserves of raw materials in them are limited and are restored after being taken by people for a long time.

How to cook

The basic recipe for the mixture looks like this:

  • 1 gram of mummy;
  • 20 grams of natural honey product.

The components are melted and mixed at 40 degrees in a water bath, strictly monitoring the temperature. Overheating is dangerous for honey. It loses its healing properties.
