Infrared house lamp

To create suitable conditions for chickens and chickens, you need to carefully prepare the house for the winter period to provide them with enough light and when you need to turn on the heater or maybe not one . Many farmers use improvised means of warming the house, for example, chicken coop is plywood on top, chipboard, sawdust is laid on the floor. But there are also artificial sources for heating and one of them is a red lamp for the chicken coop.Laying hens in winter only rush if you make them the right room temperature and the proper conditions.

Infrared lamp for the chicken coop

Every farmer who decided to raise birds on his plot needs to forget ly decide and prepare with the help of which better equip the heat in the henhouse to feathered friends pleased us in the winter. To date, there are many different options for heating chicken coops , but the best is the infrared lamp for the chicken coop. With the correct installation of the IR lamp in the chicken coop, the birds will rush and the chickens will not freeze and will be active. You can see the ceramic, thermal, red and infrared types in more detail in the photo or video.

Infrared lamp

The infrared installation for hens is easy to use, install and operation. It has a beneficial effect on the health of chickens, on their health.Of course, its main advantage is that it warms and the temperature can be regularly maintained with it, it also does not dry the air, it simply heats the objects around it, and the objects, in turn, give off heat to the air. Thus, thanks to IR equipment, we get minimal heat loss.

You can install such lamps for the chicken coop for heating yourself. Of course, the price of an infrared lamp in a chicken coop is not cheap, but with proper use it will last quite a long time. Also, IR emitters are not sensitive to high humidity and operate silently. It can be used not only for heating, but also for lighting. One lamp, for example, with a power of 250 W will illuminate and heat a room of 12 sq.m.

Cons

The main disadvantage of this equipment is the power consumption, i.e. consumption electricity and constant red tones. If we calculate the amount of electricity used per piece with a power of 250 W, we will use 0.25 kW per hour. That is not enough, especially when you consider the number of hours of heating and the fact that one lamp for a spacious chicken coop is very small. But the choice is very large, the equipment varies in both size and power. The next minus is its sensitivity, IR equipment does not like vibration, reeling, and is categorically incompatible with water. A drop of water falling on the equipment leads to a crack in the glass, that is, to inoperability.

Its cost is not small, and constantly replacing them is unprofitable. Therefore, it is necessary to protect it from water. And arrange so that the lamp hangs motionless, since the bird can damage it. It is worth noting the fact that if you use an IR lamp to heat broiler chickens, it is not enough alone, in this case you need to use combined lamps, which in addition to infrared radiation produce ultraviolet light. The IR lamp is not suitable for heating a chicken coop in which both adults and chickens are, as large chickens will take all the heat onto themselves.

Germicidal lamp

Germicidal lamp has a given spectrum of transmission of ultraviolet radiation. It is used in various devices, for example, irradiators, bactericidal recirculators, devices for water disinfection, etc. Its main advantage is non-toxicity, thanks to the glass material of which the flask is made. Such glass filters out ozone as much as possible, due to this, after using the equipment, mandatory ventilation of the room is not required, unlike the use of its predecessor, a quartz lamp.

In chicken coops, bactericidal equipment is used in the form of recirculators, today their choice is by itself great. But you need to skillfully choose them, given the age of the bird, the size of the room and the material in order to bring out full-fledged offspring. The equipment fully justifies itself and perfectly disinfects the room , which will become noticeable almost immediately to the naked eye, for the presence of insects in the room. By disinfecting the chicken coop regularly, your chickens will have excellent immunity and naturally get sick less, which is very important in winter.

Cons

  • The main disadvantage is that a fairly large amount of equipment is not specialized for industrial premises, but if you search well , you can find specialized recirculators for sheds and chicken coops.
  • Their electricity consumption starts at 15 watts, for starters it’s enough to take birds out, then the power depends on the size of the room that is disinfected. It is also necessary to take into account the rather small cost, the equipment should have the greatest effect, spend the minimum amount of electricity, be affordable, have minimal costs.

Ultraviolet lamp

The ultraviolet lamp is easy to operate and install, it consumes a bit of electricity since it does not need to be used daily. The main advantage is its direct effect of disinfection and radiation beneficially affecting farm animals and birds. When exposed to UV on broilers and meat breeds, along with an increase in growth of 4 – 1%, the quality of meat improves. Of course, this will not replace warm sunshine on a summer day, but its benefits and effectiveness are higher than natural ultraviolet rays. The lack of natural ultraviolet radiation causes metabolic disorders, a decrease in the protective functions of the body and, as a result, various diseases .

Also, the ultraviolet equipment is different, and each is adapted to a specific area, for a specific use. For chicken coops, there are UV lamps made taking into account the size of the area, the age of the bird and even cross. In total, an infrared lamp for your chickens and UV will give good results for the full life of feathered pets. Each individual device has a different gamut. The most suitable specialized device for poultry is ozonator.

Cons

Specialized lamps for chicken coops are certainly not cheap, but they will be of maximum benefit. But it is also worth noting that the UV lamp acts only with the help of radiation, in hard-to-reach, hardly visible places, bins, there will not be much benefit from it. To destroy such parasites as a tick, flea, devices will be ineffective, since radiation will not get there.

But the main minus is that it is not recommended to abuse radiation. Do not forget that the harm from UV lies in the nonspecific rupture of some molecular bonds in the DNA, that is, DNA deteriorates and more harm can be obtained than good. Therefore, many houses do not recommend the use of UV radiation when there are chickens or people in the room.

Useful tips

If you grow a day-old chick, you need to make the temperature suitable and have a red little lamp in the chicken coop or container where the kids will be. The box in which the chickens will be raised for the first time should be covered with a film to keep the temperature in the box at the right level. Instead of a film, you can cover it with a cloth to keep it warm. All this is very easily done with your own hands and a beginner poultry breeder will cope with this occupation. If you cover with foil, make sure that the chickens have something to breathe, leave holes for air. Keeping a bird in a chicken coop, maintaining its egg production , and indoor temperature is impossible without an infrared lamp.

It is the most effective and its efficiency is the highest, because the heat reaches the object with almost no loss. Despite its electricity consumption, there are no equal to it today. As for bactericidal and ultraviolet lamps, they are significantly similar in properties, but each has its own application, its own pros and cons. Therefore, it is worthwhile to think carefully about what is more convenient and profitable to purchase, so that it is financially accessible, convenient to use, taking into account all your criteria and capabilities. After all, keeping a poultry in a chicken coop should pay off, even in the winter, otherwise it would be more profitable to buy eggs and poultry meat.

It can be concluded that without good equipment it will be practically impossible to maintain a healthy bird with good immunity .The inhabitants of the chicken coop need warmth and cleanliness, and if they are not provided with favorable conditions for living, such a bird will often get sick, bear badly, and the hatching egg will not survive much. It’s always nice to see a healthy bird, a clean and tidy shed, but it’s worth a lot of effort and you need to work hard.
