These wonderful flowers satisfy a wide variety of looks and are rightfully the leader among the beautifully flowering houseplants. Saintpaulias have been cultivated for more than a hundred years; there are about 20 thousand varieties in the world. During this period of selection work, simple five-petal flowers of the uzambar violets were replenished: double and fringed; variegated and with a “girl” type leaf; amazingly beautiful “fantasy” colors. The petals are covered with contrasting strokes, stripes or polka dots, with a border, mesh. But the true masterpiece of floral diversity is the chimera-style color scheme. In a word, flowers for all tastes and times.

Saintpaulias are perennial plants, but they don’t live in the same container for many years. They need to be replanted once a year, but preferably 2 times a year – in March and September. To obtain an abundant nodding plant, violets are planted in a light peat substrate, in plastic or clay pots with a diameter of 8-10 cm. Saintpaulias love bright diffused light and high air humidity, but are afraid of drafts.

In natural light, windows oriented to the north, west or east are suitable for growing, with shading during a hot period from direct sunlight. When growing Saintpaulia, proper watering of plants is of no small importance, that is, moderate watering as the soil dries up. Caring for them consists, in addition to watering, in examining the plants, keeping them clean, spraying, removing wilted flowers and lower dying leaves.
