The reason that prompted me to make another shelf for flowers, my mother-in-law. Seeing such houses in my house, she very “transparently hinted” that she wants one like herself. And to the question, which one, she answered like all women: “original and interesting, in short a kind.”
Vertical shelf for flowers
However, as for me, it is very difficult to come up with something non-standard such a rather utilitarian thing as a shelf for flowers, without disrupting its functionality. But I tried it and it worked out well. But first things first.
The first thing I needed were pieces of chipboard. I did not buy them, and in the shop where large sheets are cut, there are always scraps left. The good sawers allowed them to be collected in plenty, which I did not fail to take advantage of. This flower rack is made of nine pieces, measuring 14 by 20 centimeters. Although, if you want to repeat my experience, you can vary them. And you will be convinced of this now.
You will also need a small hammer or mallet, a shoe knife, a drill-screwdriver, bits – cross and hex, as well as an extension cord for them, a confirmable and simple drill with a diameter of 6,5 … 7 mm, a block with sandpaper, a simple device for pasting with an edge , an iron, the edge itself, ten circles for gluing the heads of confirmations (as it turned out later, they were not needed), six dowels, PVA glue, and hardware.
Ten confirmations, six self-tapping screws 16 mm long, and two 45 mm long with a large head. In addition, two long sheds will be needed.
Let’s get to work, especially since it is very simple.
Pieces of chipboard are pasted over with an edge (an iron will help you), and the excess is cut off with a knife and cleaned with sandpaper.
True, those fragments that will form the basis of our shelf for flowers are pasted over only to the middle, and we also cut off excess edges.
Drill two holes in the non-glued edge of the part, and drive two dowels into the glue.
In the counterpart, we also drill two holes, pour the glue inside and on the end, and connect both parts.
We also connect the other two parts of the base, and if you have shifted the dimensions, just press them with a clamp until they are completely dry.
The glue is dry. Now we also connect both halves with dowels and glue, press again with a clamp and leave to dry for several hours.
Now we mark the base of the future flower shelf, drill holes, and fasten the cells themselves, alternating them to the right and left.
Now we screw in the awnings, erase the markings, and glue the heads of the confirmations.
The flower rack is ready.
We hang it by screwing it to a dense and even surface with self-tapping screws. The canopies were deliberately screwed in, and vice versa, outward, so that the screws would tighten it. So the shelf for flowers will not fly off even with careless movement. So I made a vertical flower rack. Now it’s your turn.
