Chompu is a rose apple or Malabar plum.

Pear-shaped seedless fruit with pink skin
and white firm flesh, similar in texture and appearance to an apple.

Full composition

Chompu is widely used in traditional medicine of those countries
where it grows. A decoction of yambose bark is used as
a tonic for bowel disorders, and
a decoction of the root of this tree is an excellent diuretic.
The juice from the leaves of the Malay tree serves as a lotion
for face. Fruit pulp and seeds, leaves, bark possess
antimicrobial action; they are also used to regulate
blood pressure and in the treatment of colds.

They taste like sweetened water, and sometimes just
water, odorless and tasteless. Chilled it is wonderful
thirst quencher.

Pink apple fruits are eaten fresh, stewed
with sugar. They are used to make jams, jellies, syrups.
and sauces.

At home, their halves are often filled with a mixture of rice and meat,
pour over tomato sauce, season with chopped garlic,
and bake for about 20 minutes. They are also canned in
combined with other fruits.

The essential oil is extracted from the leaves. The bark of the tree is rich
tannin.

Dangerous properties of chompu

Exotic chompu has no contraindications, it can be consumed
to one and all. Of course, it is worth remembering the possibility of an individual
intolerance and that it is necessary to eat the fruit in reasonable
quantities.
