Selection of pollen pollen from bees

The notch on this body is located above or below the pallet. And the pallet itself slides out like a desk drawer.

Note: The outer fittings are suitable for sunbeds, and the inner fittings are suitable for multi-hive hives.

Internal design advantages:

  • there is additional protection from moisture (pollen lies inside);
  • the volume is larger, which means that you can shake out the pallets less often.

Disadvantages:

  • in bad weather, removing the tray will not work, as the bees will start to worry.

Drying is a must!

Freshly brought pollen lumps have a moisture content of 25-30%. They can quickly deteriorate. Therefore, they are dried in electric dryers at a temperature of 40-42 degrees (“nuts, seeds” mode) for about a day.

The hand lowered into the pollen should not feel dampness. And the lumps themselves slightly reduce the volume and become paler in color.

The finished bee product is sieved through a coarse sieve to remove small impurities. Then they are poured into a glass container, tightly closed with a nylon lid and stored on the door of the refrigerating chamber.

pollen

We remind you that pollen is what is collected by humans without the help of bees.

The pollen collector looks like a structure of five 2-meter stick sections with metal attachments for connecting to the end of another stick. A lopper is attached at the top, which allows you to cut flowers at a height of up to ten meters. A clean cloth is first spread under the tree so as not to lose the inflorescences. And the main cut off mass is neatly packed in paper bags.

Then the inflorescences are laid out in a thin layer in dark, well-ventilated rooms. And they dry for two or three days at a temperature not higher than 40 degrees.

Collecting bee pollen is a laborious process, but absolutely not physically difficult. Even a teenager can cope with cleaning the pollen collectors (pollen traps) on the hives. The main thing is not to get caught in the rain! Otherwise, you will have to wash and dry the pallets. It is customary to carefully remove even empty fixtures after showers during the period of active pollen collection and rub them with dry rags (only the trays themselves, if there are no ventilation holes in them)
