The macronutrient sulfur. Functions. Signs of Deficiency and Excess โ€“ Hydroponics

peanuts

Sulfur is found in the plant as a part of proteins. It is essential for the formation of chlorophyll. Legumes require more sulfur in their nutrient solution than other crops. Plants often get sulfur from rainwater, especially in industrial areas. It is introduced into the nutrient solution as part of superphosphate, which contains a lot of calcium sulfate, in the form of magnesium, potassium or ammonium salts. Less commonly, sulfur is used in the form of gypsum or calcium sulfate.
