Indoor plants with unusual patterns on the leaves

Among indoor plants, flowers or leaves are often found so outlandish that it is not so easy to believe in their “authenticity”. Precious patterns, surprisingly reminiscent of feline fur, unusual fluffy flowers with small specks or symmetrical ornaments, forming feathers and “twigs” – what you just will not see among exotic plants. All these indoor plants with outlandish patterns unite not only their catchiness and exclusivity, but also sufficient capriciousness.

The chosen among the chosen

Today, the fashion for exotic not only does not subside, but, it seems, is reaching completely new heights. In pursuit of originality, the lists of popular indoor plants include crops that were considered very rare ten years ago. And few stars can compete in extravagance with indoor plants, flaunting unusual and even “artificial” patterns on the leaves.

For each of us, such wonders evoke their own associations. But they are invariably beautiful and are able to say much more about their enthusiasm for the exotic than any super-capricious plant from among the “ordinary” species.

Plants with original patterns on the leaves are usually associated with exotics. But in fact, thanks to modern breeding, outlandish specks, stripes and “nets” can be found in more familiar plants. Although, of course, most of the plants are still full-fledged exotics. And there is plenty to choose from.

What patterns are there on the leaves Coleus Bloom (Plectranthus scutellarioides). Will delight you with its unusual inflorescences and coleria fluffy (Kohleria hirsuta). Today this plant is considered almost forgotten, but the unusual patterns of its flowers deserve more attention. Compact bushes with large leaves with soft edges and a light tone and bright bells of flowers with a five-petalled limb, covered with unusual speckled spots, look inimitable. Coleria is grown mainly in ampelous culture.

Caladium leaves look very luxurious and stand out against any background. While flowering varieties are considered favorites, many forget about the presence of purely decorative deciduous varieties. But at caladium bicolor (Bicolor caladium) there are varieties with almost white leaf blades, along which red or green veins and vessels seem to diverge, and varieties with stunningly luxurious marble patterns, and other original varieties with a wide variety of combinations of patterns and base colors – from green to white, pink, purple and silver.

Symmetrical veins are the main pride white-necked arrowroot (Maranta leuconeura), a plant, with its symmetry of patterns on leaf plates evoking a variety of associations with feathers.

But even such stars with original patterns cannot be compared with the extravagant favorites of modern floriculture. Not too pleasantly smelling, but dazzling stocks, “bird” patterns of calathea, vriezia leaves reminiscent of zebras, inimitable precious orchids and by no means modest cryptantus – these are the cultures whose beauty of patterns you will never tire of admiring. Let’s get to know these favorites better.
